Updating your Ubuntu Machine

So,I'm running Ubuntu now....and It's alot like fedora in the way that it uses the Gnome desktop. Other than that it's a little different.

The first thing you'll notice is that YUM isn't in this one,so you'll have to use the GUI updating method. You will know when your machine is out of date by the red icon in the top taskbar....near the volume control on the right side.

RED ICON AND UPDATE WINDOW

To update, just double click the red icon and a window will pop up. All the packets that you need updated are already checked off and ready to go. Just click the INSTALL button and it should start the updating process.

UPDATING

Once complete, the window will be cleared and the red icon will have dissapeared from the top right corner.

ALL DONE

Not as scary as it sounds....this linux thing. If you were to think that a typical linux install takes about 8-15 minutes (windows takes about 30-35) and this update took me about two and a half minutes....not too bad I think.
