Yes, you read right. Because the Wii Remote is a bluetooth device, you can actually use the Wii Remote on your bluetooth enabled PC. If your bluetooth adapter is compatible, you could use your Wii Remote as a mouse, drum pads, for playing games, wiitar, and a host of other uses as well.
First, check to see if your
bluetooth adapter is compatile. Then make sure that the full driver set is installed for the bluetooth device. The microsoft bluetooth stack will not work. You may have to check the website of your bluetooth device for a full set of widcomm drivers. You might also check into a set of drivers from Blue Soleil, these make connecting the Wii Remote to your PC really simple.
Once you get the drivers out of the way, run the new device wizard or fire up Blue Soliel. With the windows bluetooth wizard, wait till it tells you to make sure that the device is in discovery mode, press the 1 an 2 buttoms together on the Wii Remote, the lights at the bottom of the remote will start flashing, then click next. Windows should see the remote and add the connection. If you get asked for a pin number, leave it blank or skip pairing and finish the connection, If your using Blue Soliel, click the orange ball in the center of the screen, hit the 1 and 2 buttons together on the remote, blue soliel will pickup the remote and add the connection. At this point your all done with the connection.
Next thing you need to do is download is a program called
glovepie. This link works sometimes and sometimes not, depends on whether their bandwidth has been used up or not. If it isn't working, try googling for glovepie and you should find a download for it. Once you get glovepie, extract it out into a folder and run the glovepie program. Click file and then open. Go into the Wiimote scripts folder and choose a script that you would like to try. I like the drum pad script, but you can try whatever you want. Once the script is loaded, you might want to read some of the code to get an idea of how the controller will work and how to use it. Once you have an idea, click the run button to run the script and see what happens. If you try the wiitar script, it requires two Wii Remotes to work right. One for the strumming and one for the chording. Here is a list of other
Wii Remote scripts
Hope you enjoy this and have fun!!
