I've actually had success while using Action Replay MAX EVO. The only thing about it was, that, the disc was a CD, and I have a 75001 version PS2.

It has trouble reading CDs, so about after 4 tries or so it will actually boot, and it also seemed to corrupt one of my memory cards. Fortunately I just used MC Killer. This method looks useful though.

Memory Card Killer is an app that will format a damaged or corrupt memory can and potentially fix it. You can burn the pics to CD with PS2 media player and view them on your TV, or install PS2 Media Player to your PS2 Memory Card and boot it in devolution mode with a modchip or exploit and view the files off CD or a Hard Drive. There are also versions of PS2 Media Player that will work off a HDD. You can look through the various media players for PS2. They have limited capabilities, but some will boot media off a HDD. Well I don't think there is any way to save pictures to the PS2 memory card. It is for reading blocks of PS2 data only, not transferring media files between the PS2 and your PC.

Hi and welcome!

You can buy Swap Magic from most modding websites. A good one I know of is consolesource. As to prevent the PS2 from crashing, it isn't really possible to crash a PS2, if it some how freezes, just reset it and its good to go.
