Alot of time when you install, Nero, Winamp, ect; They will edit the registry to prompt you to do what action you want to perform, when you insert a music cd, dvd, blank cd/dvd, ect. Alot of time, when you uninstall those application, the registry is still there, and shows up in the pop up box, when you insert those media items. It can be annoying, some people ignores it. I took the time to find where was the registry of the handlers and I founded it. Its a 2 part thing.
![]() There is a EventHandlers directory and action. What that mean, is that one registry folder, only contains the name of the action it should do, the other registry folder has the action of doing it, like what application, parameters, icon, ect. The registry tree to it is. HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Microsoft\Windows\Curr entVersion\Explorer\AutoplayHandlers That is the main key (Parent folder) for all Handlers, device, ect. What we want to do is edit the media handlers. And that is HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Microsoft\Windows\Curr entVersion\Explorer\AutoplayHandlers\EventHandlers \ You will see ![]() Im using music event handlers as the example. When you insert a CD/Flash drive, ect with music on it, mp3, wav, it will show the action box, and list applications you want to load it with. On the right, shows the function name of the application that will show on the list, and within those function are the rest of the information, as I said above. You can add custom events, but I havn't tried it yet, and you dont want to risk anything. Once I try it, I will make a tutorial.
