Post Force Alphabetical Sorting of the Program Menu

Force Alphabetical Sorting of the Program Menu

Most of us know that once the Start>All Programs menu has been expanded; doing a right click then selecting sort "sort by name" alphabetizes the list. Well, this will help you make that permanent so you don't have to go through the motions anymore.

> Open the Registry (Start>Run, type "regedit")
> Go to: HKEY_CurrentUser\Software\Microsoft\Windows\Curren tVersion\Explorer\Menu\Order.
> On the Edit menu, select permissions
> In the "Permissions for MenuOrder" dialog box, click Advanced.
> In the "Advanced Security Settings for MenuOrder" dialog box, clear the, "Inherit From Parent" check box.
> In the security dialog box that appears, click Copy.
> Click OK to return to the "Permissions for MenuOrder" dialog box, then clear the "Full Control Access" entry for your own account and for any security groups that you're a member of, leaving the "Read Access Control" entry in place.

And you're done. It took me a couple of minutes to write this out and you can accomplish this in a third of that time.
