The only thing I didn't like about fedora core 4 was that you still had to edit the fstab so that it would mount your NTFS partitions on boot. It has the ability to read the partitions, but not write to them...but it was nice to be able to listen to my tunes from those hard drives without having to transfer them over.

Knoppix is a very nice small distro....the disk boots are awesome too. Alot of neat tools....lol. trust me.

Also,I think knoppix still has alot of drivers built in in case you wanna run wireless.

Yeah that's what my bro said.. although I have the DVD version so don't know about small.. but size isn't so much of an issue anyway.. just want a small footprint distro that recognises the HDDs etc so that I can use my files in either windows or linux.. i'll use a partition for swapping stuff over if I have to, but would prefer to just use stuff from win drives in linux.. doubt I'd want to do it the other way around.. and know that win can't read linux drives anyway, lol.
I'll see how it goes.. i'm most likely to just use the linux comp for internet and learning more about linux really and as a backup comp for if windows goes down..

I usually use linux for everything except gaming....but I'm gunna wait till I get a larger primary drive. I only have a 40gig main hard drive,I wanna get at least an 80 and split it between windows and linux.

That's cool.. I have a 160 as my primary at the minute, have a 40GB partition for windows and the rest is storage space.. not being used at the minute.. I tend to keep most of my stuff on my 200GB SATA drive.. then I also have a 250GB HDD not being used at the minute either.. but one of them will have to come out to go into my old PC unless I buy another HDD, whihc is a possibility with the prices they are at at the minute.. might just swap my 160 primary to the old PC and see how that gets on with tinyxp.. and then start afresh with a good win release.. I keep most of my important stuff on a USB2 flashdrive now anyway so easier to transfer docs etc.. and I can always hook it up to my router no probs if it's a bigger job than a flashdrive can handle.

So you can have XP and Linux installed. Linux is basically useless for gaming, so many people keep Windows installed to play their favorite games and Windows-only apps. With Linux installed they get a secure 64-bit OS with speed and stability superior to Windows in every way.
