I would have to go with ubuntu, mainly because it's got more regular updates..and the development is on going. Where as alot of other distros are kind of off and on when it comes to support.
Second up would be Suse for being user friendly out of the box. Then the red hat/fedora line...they seem to be pretty good too.

i would definetly agree that Ubuntu is the way to go for ease of use. I just got a copy of the newest Ubuntu 7.10 and it works very nicely on my old rig with all the eye candy.. but like any other linux distro, there is plenty of power to play with when you get more advanced.

I'd like to go with Linux Mint which is built upon Ubuntu. It's a little more polished than Ubuntu and takes some of the hassle out of the initial set-up because it already has media codecs and java and flash already installed on it.
If you like Ubuntu, maybe it's worth a shot. Main Page - Linux Mint P.S - Wait a few days for them to make the Mint version for Hardy 8.04, it usually takes them a little longer but it's expected since they're building something off of the new versions each time. |
