[Ubuntu] ATi Drivers [Ubuntu]

I don't know how much you guys know about Linux distros, but I just recently started my Ubuntu/XP Dual-Boot, but I only have one problem, I cant get my graphics drivers installed on Ubuntu 8.04.1 (Hardy Heron). I've tried everything, and I know its an issue for alot of people, but people get it to work and it seems like I cant. Im using an ATi x800 256mb AGP graphics card. Help is appreciated.

I may have, but I don't recall it working... I'll try again and get back to you.

at the top right, on the task bar, or what ever you would like to call it, there should be like a red exlimation point, if you douple click on it, it should up this think and say restricted drivers, click allow to use or somthing, i think you should be able to figure it out

I got it working, but if you enable to restricted drivers, people including me, have trouble where when you boot, the screen goes black. Its an ATi/Hardy Heron problem.

I could probably get it to 3.0 stable. However I had about a two week period with endless system crashes and maintainence issues. I reinstalled the HSF and reapplied Arctic Silver 5, ran memtest86 for 8-12 hours on 2 and 4 sticks of RAM, used checkdisk to check my HDD, switched out my GPU drivers a couple times, and reinstalled XP over 10 times before getting it stable. I took my PC apart and put it back together about 3 times. I switched out my AV as well. I think the issue all along was a suspect Video card driver. I would continually get VPU Recovers with Catalyst and the latest ATI drivers. I went ahead and installed the Omega Drivers along with ATI Tray Tools and not a single VPU recover or major system issue in the last two weeks.

OCing may have not had anything to do with it, but after being frustrated almost to the point of tears, I just decided to keep everything stock.
