Question Stepping Up.

Ok, so I'm wanting to step up the performance of this piece of crap lappy as much as possible, becuase it's all I have at the moment... It's a Toshiba Satellite A65 S126. I have all the up to date drivers for it, and I'm running Tiny XP as an attempt to free up ram and hard drive space. Any one know of any thing else I can do for it?

I also have all windows little special effects turned off, the animated menus and such... Even have a lot of the tips and tricks here applied, like the Make Windows Boot Faster... So lookin for the next step.

get rid of the theme and go with the classic look without a background. That does a small bit.

The only other things I can think of would be adding RAM and using an AV, Anti-Spy program that doesn't put drag on your system. For AV, Nod32 uses virtually zero system resources and is still the most comprehensive AV I've used. For Anti-Spy, AVG Anti-Spyware puts very mild drag on your system, and it picks up a ton of stuff and updates daily. That combo combined with NoScript and FireFox is about as close to immune to malware as you can get. Add in Javacool Spyware Blaster, and you're ready to go.

It's an addon for FireFox that prevents Java, Javascript from running by default. Java is used frequently to exploit weaknesses in XP, and spawns pop-up/under ads and downloads undesirable stuff in the background while browsing the web. The cool part about it is with a single click you can enable or temporarily enable java on sites. It's useful when you are browsing sites which require Java/flash to run correctly.

Get it here: https://addons.mozilla.org/en-US/firefox/addon/722

Also, if you use FireFox read this: http://www.xtreme-source.com/web-ema...e-firefox.html
