In XP go start-->and click the picture at the top left of the start menu. From there you can choose one of the preset pictures or one of your own to appear at the welcome screen.

You'll have to use some sort of software to modify it. The only one I've ever tried was Logon Loader: PC Answers - Tutorials - Change the XP welcome screen

Microsoft is to lazy to tell us these thing on how to make our own. if they would learn the ones that don't know what they are doing and screw up there computer, they could make money off that

P.S. the program mentioned above will keep the login screen on the computer at boot even if you remove the program, i could only get rid of it by formating.

An Alternative

I found a website that has some Welcome screens you can download. Here
You can try google for others.

Find a login that you like and download. Name it something you can remember "Login1.exe" and paste in C:\Windows\system32
Open up Registry Editor and navigate to Visual Style

Go to UIHost and change it from loginui.exe to what you named your file.

Restart Your computer and it should show up.

If this doesn't work for some reason the classic login should appear and your computer should be safe. And if it doesn't work just change it back to loginui.exe in the regedit.

It has been a while since I did this to my computer but im pretty sure this how I did it.

First post on forum. Feel free to correct me.

That site comes up as red in Mcafee Site Advisor. Sometimes I ignore that, but it also has an advertising bar, there is a good probability some of those themes may contain adware of some kind. I'm just going on instinct, never used that site before. Just worth noting for any perspective users.

Well I just scanned the files I've downloaded and found nothing.
Used Kaspersky and Avg to scan. but use your own judgement.

Cool Logon Studio.

I personally use Stardocks Logon Studio. It's free and simple to use. And one feature I like, is if I have multiple logons, it can be set to random logon each boot, and I have a list of favorites and it chooses a different logon everytime I boot.

As for finding logon screens to use, I like Belchfire.net LINK.

Logon Studio can be downloaded HERE.

=)
