my bro has a pretty lame problem.... his account is now an "Unknown account type" the administrator account doesnt show up, and running "control userpasswords2" required a login to the administrator account. he cant create another account cause hes not admin, and cant enable the guest either....what does he do?

I dunno. I wouldn't go that route til someone else reads this. My question is, can he do a system restore? Go back to a date before this problem?

Also, has he scanned for virus and malware?

AVG Free and SpyBot Search And Destroy are free and good for that.

Also, you might want to post a HJT log for someone to take a look at. LS has always been good about that.

If all else fails, Reformat.

Go into safe mode (Press F8 upon startup), login as administrator, create a new admin account. Logout, restart PC, login as the new admin normally. Then delete the old admin account.
