Help My Bios

Can someone help me? I was softmodding my XBOX and i tried to add a PC CD-DRIVE to my XBOX. I think i did something wrong and now my BIOS cannot read my CD-DRIVE at all and it is correctly installed. When I boot my Windows XP, I can still use the CD-Drive. Now I cannot boot from CD no more. Is there a way to fix this?

So you added the PC DVD-ROM to your Xbox and your Xbox will no longer detect the drive? Can you still boot into your default dashboard on the Xbox? If so, then just reinstall the stock DVD-ROM drive and see if everything works ok.

The thing is that my Softmod do not work no more on my XBOX. I did the softmod through how swapping and it went pretty well. Then I wanted to install SlayerX CD Mod on it but I needed to install another DVD-ROM to my XBOX. When I tried to install another DVD-ROM to my XBOX, something went wrong and it messed up my PC's BIOS. Now, I do not have a Softmodded XBOX and my BIOS cant detect my CD-ROM no more. I cant boot my PC through CD-ROM no more. I want to fix this problem. But I can still use my CD-ROM when I'm in Windows.

Ok, the way you are wording this is very confusing, please clearly state everything you have done so far.

So after you tried to install the PC DVD-ROM in your Xbox, the softmod stopped working?

When you say

I cant boot my PC through CD-ROM no more.
What do you mean?

Lets just leave the softmodding out then. My problem is that I cannot boot my PC with a CD. For example: I put in my Windows XP CD in the CD-DRIVE and restart. Normally, the pc will boot the disc. But in my situation, I cant. For some reason my BIOS cannot detect my DVD-ROM no more.

Ok yeah, one problem at a time lol.

It's best to install Windows to your Hard Drive. Booting off disc is slower and less stable. Plus if the disc drive goes without a working OS on your Hard Drive, then you are screwed until you get a working optical drive.

The issues you describe sound like they might be a jumper setting issue. Here is a picture guide for jumper settings. Try setting the drive to master or slave and see if your computer will detect it.

Installing a New DVD Burner - Computer Shopper

Then make sure the correct IDE channel is enabled in your bios.

You don't have that plastic piece? That could most certainly be the reason your PC is not detecting your DVD-ROM in the bios.

Ok. so I found one but where do I put it? Since I want it to be my secondary, I should put the plastic on MASTER slot?

Nevermind, I got it working now. Thanks for your help, is there a faster way to reinstall Windows? You said something about booting it through the disk is slower and unstable...?
