Thumbs down Awww F**k, Need Help With Virus

Over the past couple of weeks my pc has been acting strange, when i open up a webpage in IE and close it, 67 more tabs open up, when i close them 66 tabs open up, and etc. I've also noticed that my window manager popps up when i try to turn off my pc and says that UiPopUpHidden is not responding. This sounds like a virus to me, there isn't much information on google for it, so this is my last resort. Does anybody know how to get rid of this virus?

In situations like that, where the virus basically takes over the PC. You would have to reinstall windows, or perform a repair install for temp. to backup your files then do a full reinstall.

Agreed,

Re-Installing your OS is probably your best wager at this point.

I agree a reformat is always best, and certainly the easiest option. If you can, back up all your key files, format and install a fresh copy of XP.

Your other option is to clean out your PC with Spybot S&D, Ad-Aware SE, AVG Anti-Spyware, Webroot SpySweeper and Spyware Doctor, and a good AV like Nod32, Kapersky, or Bit Defender. Spybot, Ad-aware are free, AVG Anti-spyware has a free trial, and Spyware Doctor and SpySweeper are pay software. You can try posting a Hijack This log to see if the malware can be identified that way. It comes down to user preference in the end. Get HJT here:

Short of that, format and reinstall XP.

The first thing i would try is the repair windows function on your XP disk. That may get rid of it and also save all your current programs. If no luck with that then go with all the spyware programs, and as a last resort reformat and reinstall windows.
