From what I understand of the post of what C4E said, the console has the ability to log detected backups to a log file thats stored in flash memory. Then the log can be called for anytime you log into live. It's not sure whether they are using this ability or not though.

Wow, so much for stealth. I may just stay clear of live until another work around comes out.

so how does that work? is it from the update or has it been there all the time im asuming not, but im asuming it counts of now as in the when i stick a backup in now it will log if not it got a big log from me lol

You and me both man. Mine has never had an original disc in it. But like i said before. I will get the boot when the time comes and then MS can suck it. I will not be buying a new console just to play on live. I will just play offline like i use to.

has everyone of your backups been stealth, as we all know that the first iso of crackdown wasnt as many peeps took it online straight away im just guessingms must be looking for a certain thing when banning but im guessing your just very lucky lol

No, once i found out that the firmware was auto patching the back up so it appeared stealth and the games would work i stopped even checking them to see if they were stealth. So now i really have no idea which are and which are not. In my own opinion i think MS is checking multiple things so i really think that no one is safe no matter what they do at this point. By the time it was big news about the bannings it would have been too late for most people. The data would have already been collected. I figure if you are not banned you were just not in this stage of their banning wave. I know my time will come and i am prepared when it does. I have no false hopes that people will create a firmware or anything that will get around it when people only have speculation to go by. No one REALLY knows what they are checking or how they are checking it at this point. I am still playing on Live pretty much every night that i can just waiting for that one day when i can't.

Yeah, and who knows if the stealth ever really did anything, chances are MS has known for some time when a user was playing backups on XBL, and was just biding their time coming up with a stop-cap solution in lieu of keeping backups from booting at all.

Well, the stealth did what it was supposed to, it's just there was more to it that just that. They now know that when a request for security sector information is requested, they are requesting more bytes that what is really necessary, these sxtra bytes of information would reveal the location of the security sector on the disk, and since in xtreme versions are in a different place in order to boot properly, they can say that this would be one method of detection. There are other things that could be checked as they are slowly finding out. Like the challenge/response data. They now know that a modded drive takes less time to give a response to a challenge to the disk over a non-modded drive. They could also use that data to determine the the validity of a disk. Like I said, there are more than one way to detect a backup that no one dreamed about.

MS tried to drop the ban hammer once before and it backfired on them then. To many "real" legitimate users got bashed and barely any hacked users got tossed so they went back to the drawing board. I think they've been collecting data for a while now. I also think that anyone that has played a backup and then gets on Live is living on borrowed time including myself. Of course thats just my opinion and it could be chuck full of holes.

I will enjoy my barrowed time for now, and as i said before. After I am bnanned MS can come suck my ****!!! I am not buying another console any time soon just to get one live. Like Sadalius said, they will lose more money then i will on this deal. They do not get my $50 a year, they do not get money from my marketplace purchases, or my money for their games.
So it is really just saving me $50 a year on Live:flex:

where they will makje money is on all the XBL addicts who will actually buy another console. Unless they get it used which is a big risk because who knows how many modded consoles are being sold on Ebay as non-modded.
