Okay, well thread unclosed.
There are two ways to backup games. If you are ripping an original game, you can use Xbox Backup Creator. Get it here: RapidShare: 1-Click Webhosting To rip original games, you'll need a DVD-ROM drive capable of reading the Xbox 360 file structure. You can either use the 360 drive itself and hook it up to your PC via a SATA cable. You'll need to get Windows to recognize the 360 drive, the easiest way for Hitachi drives is to use a Connectivity kit and get the drive into 0800 mode with the connectivity kit or the Slax CD. The problem with this method is it requires the user to dissemble his 360. The easiest way to do it is to purchase a Samsung SH-D162C. These drives aren't in production anymore, the only place to really find them in the US is on eBay. Expect to pay about $60 for one. It is totally worthwhile imo, just for the ease of use of backing up games. Once you have the drive you can flash it with Kreon's firmware and it will be capable of ripping 360 games with apps like Xbox Backup Creator or Schtrom's Xtract 360. Most of these drives on eBay come preflashed with Kreon's fw. If you buy an unflashed one, then you can always flash it yourself, the process is simple. So once you have a Samsung SH-D162C, you can use Xbox Backup Creator to backup original 360 games. 1. Insert the 360 game in the Samsung SH-D162. 2. Open Xbox Backup Creator. 3. Click Unlock drive under the drive tools tab. 4. Under the read tab, select complete backup and click start. 5. Pick a name and destination for your iso, click okay. 6. The game will then rip, rip speed will vary according to the condition of the disc. 7. Once the image is done, insert a blank DVD+R DL into your DVD-ROM drive. 8. Close XBC, open ImgBurn. 9. Drag and Drop the iso into ImgBurn, the layer break will read automatically from the DVD file, and burn the iso at 2x or 4x, preferably to some quality Verbatim DVD+R DL media.
