.... my wallet dry; Since I rarely do play it, and my cousin does all the time, I end up buying controllers, games and etc for it. I guess I might aswell conclude to modding it to prevent any more spending on it, yet get taunted by him. $50 here and there for games, I have a total of 6 right now. Anyways, should I stay with my current black elite and try to find a way to mod it, or return it, then purchase a moddable 360 from ebay, and mod it myself, along with a nice black case :?:

Well it depends what DVD drive you have on the Elite. If you have a Hitachi FK79, it's a pain to mod, but it is able to be modded. If you get a BenQ, the Xtreme firmware isn't out as yet, but I remember reading it will be out soon. If it was me, I'd probably just try to find a 360 with a Samsung or pre-Hitachi FK78 (one without the epoxy) drive. They are easy to mod and pretty reliable. The 120GB HD is essentially worthless unless there was some way to dump 360 games to the HD and play them off the HD, or if you use the XBL Movie and TV download service. Hell just paint the stock case yourself, I think I remember Punq saying he uses car paint for that type stuff and it works well. It's not worth $50 if you're never going to play it any way. My XCM case looks great, so does the Talismoon fan. But is it worth $50? I'd say yes if the system was reliable. Given the fact it's probably going to die within six months of purchasing it, I'd say no.

dang, i have had the same two controllers i bought (wireless) back in February. I just recently hooked them up so i can use them on PC games as well. Only downfall is you have to initialize the controller to the PC then back to the console each time.

One thing to consider if you plan to go to Ebay is, does he play games through Xbox Live. Because you could spend all that money on a console only to find out it is already banned. I have seen stories of it several times now.

If you mod it you might as well get the Samsung SH-D162C or SH-D163A drive while your at Ebay so you can make copies of original discs. Just a simple flash with Kreon firmware is needed if it is not already done when you get it. It is much faster then getting them online but you still have the rental cost and DVD+R DL discs are not cheap either.

He wont be playing online, since I will not pay for subscription. I dont want to walk by and hear ethugs talking trash while he play halo. I dont really care if I buy it off ebay and its banned, even better for me . I dont have to worry about DL disc, I just have to contact a wholesaler for them. I already have a D162C with Kreon, since I make backups for my friends, so thats not a problem.

Sounds like you got it all covered. You may want to seek out a banned console then because people who know they are selling a banned one will not be able te get a high price for it.

I came to a conclusion that I will not be getting a modded 360, since there is only 1 other game I plan to get for the console. I might plan to play online with ace combat, depending on my mood later on, but not a long term subscription.

Ace combat, from what I heard, requires a funky controller to play it. Controller is going to be very expensive from what I heard. Game bundled with controller, even more expensive. But I'm hoping what I've heard is wrong and you can use a regular controller with it.

Yeh it is required to use that $130 controller. I dont mind on getting that, add it to my steering collection. I just want to complete my ace combat collection. In my view its worth every penny to play that game, since I am a aircraft person and love heights.

Damn what a rip off, I mean at least Guitar Hero makes the Guitar optional, though I'm sure it's more to play with than the controller.
