Personally i do not have any HD DVD's at all. Or the player for my 360. The picture on my upscaling DVD player is really nice through HDMI so i just never moved up.

As long as the drivers allow the HD-DVD player to run on your PC with your media player of choice, it's totally up to you. VLC and Media Player Classic are pretty nice, full featured players.

for playing hd-dvd's through the 360 player on the PC, I use power dvd ultra. It's the only one that I've found that will play the HD format. I didn't have any luck with windvd. Once I figured out how to rip HD-DVD's to my hard drive, I use Power DVD ultra to play them back from the HDD as well. Although I probably won't be ripping to many to my HDD since Transformers weighed in at 26 GB.....
