The whole Xbox production concepts seems to be, cheap parts, good price equals good profit, but it seems it came around and bit them in the arse, due to the failure rates. Aside of that, XBL is their largest profit in the whole gaming industry.
I have all the consoles, and yes its true that there are ups and down. Wii = Breaking stuff around you, lol.... PS3, some games have bad online experiances. Xbox 360 = RROD. Sure they dont match up evenly, but some are minor, others are major to the game play. You decide.

Man, that sucks LS - my bro's 360's DVD drive went on his a while back, so he just bought a PS3... best thing he ever did IMO
![]() My 360 is still running fine after 10 months, but to be fair I don't play it very often at all.... maybe once in a month for 2 hours now that I have a PS3. Yeah the PS3 doesn't have many games out at the moment, but there are some great ones in amongst them:- call of duty 4 rainbow six vegas (RSV) RSV2 uncharted: drake's fortune medal of honor airborne some not bad ones are:- ratchet and clank (new one) devil may cry 4 heavenly sword ...........I'm sure I've left out some good ones too, but i just can't think right now. And within the next few months there's:- GTA4 metal gear solid 4 haze mercenaries 2 brothers in arms hell's highway battlefield bad company That's enough games for me to be honest when they cost $80 a pop ![]()

Well my 360 is officially dead. I'm going to attempt to trade it in a couple hours. I've decided that if the store will permit it that I'm going to eat some money and get a PS3 with a two year warranty. It will cost me more in the short term, but it's a better long term solution. There is a much lower chance of the PS3 suffering hardware failure than the 360. If I am unable to get a PS3 in exchange, I guess I'm stuck with another 360. In which case, check this thread in six months when it dies and I ***** about how MS sucks.

Bleh... well here's the story. I took it back to K-mart for an exchange. Turns out I didn't read the small print on the exchange. K-mart only deals with exchanges within 30 days. When purchasing a service plan through K-mart, you are required to send the product back to the company which handles their warranty exchanges after 90 days. I read the brochure for the warranty company, and it looks like they replace, repair, or refund the product at their discretion. Upon reading further, it looks like K-mart will simply ship the product off to Microsoft and send me an exchange. I am not certain of that, but if I read the legal mumbo jumbo correctly, that appears to be the case. The warranty sticker on the 360 is clearly bubbled and will not pass inspection from any bipedal life form.
I can only see a couple scenarios. One the company checks the warranty sticker, it's not valid, I'm out $400. Two, the company doesn't check warranty, sends it to MS for replacement, MS checks warranty sticker and either doesn't honor the replacement or charges me to replace it. Three, get an X-clamp replacement. That may solve the RRoD. Four, maybe I luck out and the company refunds, repairs, or exchanges the 360 without ever checking the warranty sticker. Any way, it's my own fault. This is always the risk you take when you mod. I did not read the warranty information thoroughly upon my purchase of the 360. My advice to anyone is to buy a 360 at some place with in-store warranties! Avoid K-mart like the black plague! If anyone has any ideas or options I haven't thought of, by all means please share.

Well, if that was my choice man I would either:-
1) get the x-clamp replacement and see how it goes... then after a while just buy a PS3 anyway. 2) If you can afford it, get a PS3 now and be done with it... will be cheaper in the long run as there's no telling if the 360 will just give the RROD again. I am just so glad I got a PS3 to be honest, I hardly ever play my 360 at all.... but I can understand where you're coming from and hope that the guy/guys at MS who decided to go with cheapa$$ components in the 360 die a horrible death for all the misery they cause ![]() To be honest it wouldn't surprise me if this was their strategy from the beginning - so that they can get out of paying for replacement units for modders, while still raking in $$$$ from them.

Yeah the X-Clamp is probably what I'm going to try. Sending it back is too risky, I have no control over whether they honor the warranty. I am totally at their mercy.
I don't have enough money to buy a PS3 right now unfortunately, but I have a b-day coming up, so who knows?
