Dewds!!!, I HAVE TRIED EVERYTHING!!! Well obviously not if I am posting this huh? I sat on the damn phone for almost 2 hours with some tech agent at XBOX trying to troubleshoot this problem. Everything is good until I test the Media Connection through my Xbox360. Network Adapter: Wired, IP Address: Confirmed, Pc selected: F****** FAILED. I have uninstalled Norton to try this. I have spoke with Microsoft about the issue, which by the way, unless you are willing to pay $79.99 an hour for tech help, don't call them. You can't even understand those guy's anyway.I have checked the ports needed, they are all there. I have done everything I can think of and whatever XBOX has in there computers to help XBOX user's and I am STRUGGLIN'!!! Here is what I am using to connect:
Windows XP, Windows Media Player 11 with File Sharing selected, (YES the green checkbox is GREEN), Microsoft Broadband Networking 10/100 Ethernet Wired Base Station Model : MN-100, (According to Xbox.com, it is compatible and I do have the latest version of firmware) And some Ethernet cords. Oh and apparently, an XBOX 360, BRAND NEW!!! If anyone knows a thing or two about a thing or two please, and if your not too busy slayin noobs (Halo 3), or slicing guards (Assassin's Creed, Ninja Gaiden 2), or just runnin' the "Street's" of LIBERTY CITY (Obvious), And your a dear old friend of the Xbox Community, maybe give my cheap *** a hand???? My Xbox Live Gamertag is: WesLeggs and my email is [email removed] I would Greatly Appreciate Any Comment's or Suggestions. |

I personally never liked WMP11 anyway and found it fiddly at the very least..
I got great results though from a program called TVersity TVersity » Home It'll even tell you how to set it up on your 360 or PS3. I guess the main thing is what you want to use it for though, I'm not completely sure of the capabilities of what it can do with the 360, although I do know it can stream files so you can watch them on your TV through the 360. With the PS3 you can also copy files to the PS3 hard drive to watch/listen to at a later date etc. Anyway, hope that helps you as I don't know much about WMP11 at all so can't help if you want to continue trying to use that instead.

never used mine with WMP11. I did try using TVersity and ORB, both of which worked fine with my set up:
Windows XP Pro SP2 Wireless Linksys WGA54G ethernet adapter Wireless Linksys WRT54GS Modem Personallyi really do not stream any media as the 360 pretty much sucks compared to the original Xbox (modded of course) and what it was able to do. Xbox.com | System Use - Use a PC with Xbox 360 just to make sure this is what you have done.

Yep I totally agree. The 360 has a lot of power, but the format support is terrible. It has no native HD support except for heavily DRM managed DivX through the 360 marketplace. I'm not sure if that is still around with the death of everything DivX. Frankly if I was looking for a media center I would build a media PC, get a modified Xbox and run XBMC, a PS3, or popcornhour. All of those are better media alternatives to transcoding on the fly with TVersity.
