Hello guys
I just wanted to ask for somebody's help with some of my Xbox 360 premium and xbox Elite system. I am wanting to buy one of the following connectivity kits. 360 Connectivity Kit V3 Pro Although I do need some help in deciding if these are going to be able to let me, update my two systems firmware and also allow me to play back -ups and do all the beautiful things that you cannot do with an unmodded xbox 360, I am sure that I am mistaken in thinking that the connectivity kits, would unblock my systems for me to be able to paly back up on them, and so on. All information will be helpful, I would really appreciate LS's input as he is the xbox man :-) Important: None of my xbox systems have been modified in any way at all?

Really only a couple things you need here:
1. Find out which DVD-ROM drive your 360's have. Eject your 360 DVD-ROM and compare it to this picture: ![]() If it doesn't have match any of those, you may have a Liteon drive. 2. Download Textbook's 360 flash guide: Textbook’s Xbox 360 Firmware Tutorial - LooKPDF.com - Search Portable Document Format Files for FREE If you have a Liteon drive, then you will not be able to flash it. Liteon drives are not currently flashable, though it is possible to dump the Liteon drive key and inject into a BenQ and spoof it. Once you know what DVD-ROM drive tou have order this VIA SATA card: VIA VT6421A IDE & SATA RAID PCI Controller Card Then read Textbook's guide thoroughly. The connectivity kit is not necessary, though it is useful to not have to use the 360 to power on the DVD-ROM drive during the flash process. If you are only going to flash your two 360's, I wouldn't worry about it. Textbook's guide covers virtually everything. Might want to check my 360 FAQ for some supplemental info: Xbox 360 Quick Links If you run into a serious snag, the guys here can solve any 360-flash issue: Welcome to Robinhood's Playground

Hey LS,
I currently have the Xbox 360 Elite, Dvd Rom Drive BENQ Vad 6038, I am not exactly sure of the drive on my Premium xbox 360, which may I add is currentley at my girlfriend's house, I shall check the dvd drive version tonight. Checked Premium Xbox 360, the dvd drive is actually A Hitachi GDR-3120L, when I go to her house. The pictures you provided make it so much easier to diagnose the exact drive, thanks for that, so let me get this right, you are saying because I only have two xbox's, one Premium and one Elite, that I do not NEED, the connectivity kit, although it would make it easier, to flash them, but the link that you provided for the Via VT6421A IDE & SATA RAID PCI Controller Card. Altough I clicked on that link, and it took me a store in the states, and I am Located in the United Kingdom, although I only have to copy and paste the info into GOOGLE, and see the millions of references to that precise card, and this would be installed into my main PC, and I am correct in thinking that this would allow me to hook up both xbox's to the pc, and then flash them, and thus allowing me then to play back ups, and so on. I am going to also follow the link you provided for additional information. As always you are a gent, if you think I have missed something or mis understood let me know LS ![]() ![]() ![]()

Newdigitalshop :: Desktop Components :: 3 Ports SATA Serial ATA + 1 ATA PCI Controller Card (VIA VT6421)
You can get it in the UK there. BenQ's are easy to flash, just make sure you get the card, use the SATA port on the card closest to the front of the PC, and leave the A/V cable plugged into the 360 during the flash process if you use the 360 to power on the DVD-ROM during the flash. The 360 doesn't need to be connected to the TV, but the A/V cable needs to be plugged into the 360 or it will auto power down after a couple minutes, which you don't want during the flash process.

Hello LS
I have decided that I am not going to try and flash my Xbox 360 Elite or for that matter my Premium xbox 360 either, I know that trying this flashing thing is not my forte, and I am sure that I will most probably regret it and bugger up my xbox's, and the overall cost of these unit's make me NOT want to make an absolute mess of the said job. I have however made an informed decision, and I have been looking at the G2Fs (ghost 2 fitters) site, and they will update the firmware(Iextreme upgrade) on both my machines, and it will cost £19.99 per machine/console, and also a small cost to send the units to them. I have used their services before, and they did the chipping on my old PS2, they were very good, and the System was back with me, in no time at all, and for that piece of mind. It is not a great deal of money. I also think that this is a safer option, than a chip, as this will allow me to play online with XBL, (when I renew my subs that is). If I am wrong, please ledt me know?. XBOX 360 Upgrade service XBOX 360 Softmod Upgrade service for all drives [] - £19.99 : Ghost2fitter I have also checked out game world direct, although I have not used their services, so I may opt to use G2F. Xbox 360 - iXtreme Upgrade Service for SAMSUNG - HITATCHI - BENQ [360_softmod] - £19.99 : Game World Direct, Xbox 360 Wii Install Pre-Mod Chip Repair iXtreme I thank you for all your help LS. I am sure that once this update is done on both machines, then I should get my wish, and be able to play back-ups, and copied games???
