I just bought a new unit and here is the Info off the machine. serial # 051174382207 product ID 89555521051174382207 MFR Date 5-29-08 and one last se of numbers dont say for what 051174382207 Looking at the pictures to tell which DVD ROM I have and mine looks just like the BENQ VAD6038 picture. So my question is whats the best way to have it fixed so I can play downloaded games and from online the online is no big deal for me but if it can be fixed and they not detect it fine. My computer has the SATA plug 2 of them. I no nothing about this but will be reading as much as I can from here and other site that are good for doing the work of fixing the machine. I'm in Minnesota would like to no how much it cost to fix the machine. Any help will be great when you have time to reply. Thank you much, pbsman |

If you do have a BenQ, the flash process is pretty simple. Download Textbook's guide:
http://www.360mods.net/tutorial/Textbook.pdf Read it and decide if the process is for you. If it is. then get a PCI SATA card with a VIA6421 chipset like this: VIA VT6421A IDE & SATA RAID PCI Controller Card Then read through Textbook's guide on the section for flashing BenQ drives. The latest iXtreme Firmware is stealth and should protect against backups from being detected on Live. It is not 100%, but the best protection there is against being caught with burned games on live.
