Hello people
I seem to have fooled myself into thinking that i have solved my problem with my version 1.6 crystal xbox, by buying ionicle's great xbox, because although i am very happy with my newly aquired xbox, i am still in thought's as to why i cannot get my crystal xbox back in working condition. So i am posting some new question's that may help me try and solve the problems/error's with my crystal xbox. without further adue 1 What is the actual file size of an eeprom file? 2 Can a chipped xbox be hooked up with my crystal xbox and pass file's over to lock/unlock the original drive? 3 Can config magic in chipped xbox, help the crystal xbox out in any way at all? 4 Would i gain any help if i installed config magic on my secondary pc, and lock/unlock original xbox hard drive with the eeprom? 5 Is there any other software available that will lock/unlock my original xbox drive? 6 Is it true all xbox motherboard's are married to the hard drive's? 7 Is it also true that all DVD ROM drive's are compatable with all version's of the xbox Any help would be fantasic ??? :chef::chef::chef: Also if anybody has read an article, regarding putting a version 1.1 xbox motherboard into a crystal 1.6 case, i would love to know where you came across the article, i was reading it myself the other night, and i thought i had book marked it, but cannot find it anywhere, it was interesting???

After answering your PM in regards to some of these questions Silver Sony, I can tell you that the eeprom.bin file for a v1.6 xbox should be 2048 bytes in size. I'm not sure about other versions of xbox's though, some of the first xbox's had a full MB flash rom that was divided up into 4 sections, but I think they were all the same size though, but I could be wrong. I found the v1.6 size by pulling some of my customers xboxhdm disks that I had made for them in case something ever happened and looking at their file sizes.

as far as i know, the hard drive's and dvd rom drives are all interchangeable....

well, the dvd drives are completely hassle free interchangeable. But the hard drives aren't exactly hassle free on the interchangeable part. Especially if your dealing with a softmod. You have to be able to unlock the drive before you can put it into a different xbox.

Hard drives are married to the eeprom...so unless the machine is modded,to move the hard drive from one machine to the other...you will have to move the eeprom with it for it do be usefull.
