AVI Movies to XBOX

Hey everyone, I am trying to put avi movies on my XBOX. I tried using straight flashfxp, but it won't go through. Syas transfer failed. I am attempting to put it in the movie folder on the G: partition. It's labeled "Movies" so I figured that would be the place to put it. Any suggestions?

I do this on the daily man, I'm sure we'll get you through it. Have you change the name of the .avi to something simple (i.e. "star wars.avi", scarface.avi)? Length and character types play a part in the successful transfers of these files.

That'd be my first troubleshoot option for yah.

Most ftp programs have issues with long names and symbols as well. So take out any underscores or !@#$%^&*() symbols from the title and make sure the length of the title isn't too long and it should go fine.

Yeah, the Xbox HD has a 32 character HD limitation. There's a way around this without manually renaming files. In UnleashX, there's an option to auto rename files. Under Settings-->System-->Settings, set auto rename to yes and save your options. You'll never have to rename files again! You must be in the UX dash for it to work. This is particularly useful with large sets of files over the 32 char limit like ROM packs.

The longest length on a computer, that a filename can be is 255 characters long. 255 is the computer max number, wierd, huh? Well, thats how it is.

Overall, I do suggest you use SmartFTP, or WS_FTP, since flashfxp doesn't always show all files.
