Hey man I'm looking to upgrade mine myself, and have been looking around. Steimy reccommended to me FRYS.com , and Newegg.com - Buy Computer Parts, PC Components, Laptop Computers, Digital Cameras and more!

My current 200 gig is a Maxtor and I think I want to stick with one of them. I want a 400 gig next.

Xbox isn't compatible with SATA drives, though I guess you could get an adapter (maybe). I know because I bought a SATA HD by accident when I first got my modded Xbox. I have a 320GB Western Digtal IDE, works great, cheap on newegg.

I was just being rather lazy...i can't believe that i made that mistake...the real point to my post is that you can get 250 gig hdd's on newegg.com for like 80 bucks these days all you have to do is search...all i did was copy the link from the first hdd i saw on sale and that one turned out to be SATA...oops on my part...

srry,

Lol, it's all good, you tend to notice that if you ordered the wrong one by accident.

I've been tiring to find out what the differences between “Parallel” PATA and “Ultra” UATA drives are. There are different ide cables involved, but you couldn’t tell by just glancing at them, and either will work on my PC, just in different modes, like Ultra 44, or ultra 88, something like that. Might I add that my main HD on my PC is SATA, and I have a pci card that gives you 2 ide ports so you can use the older style hds. I wanted to put my mind to rest on this before I buy one, besides it might prove difficult to find a good deal on a 400 gig. Maxtor, anyway.

Yeah 400GB HD's are expensive man, there's a huge price drop between the 400GB and 320GB HD's. I believe I got this one: Western Digital Caviar SE 320GB 3.5" IDE Ultra ATA100 Hard Drive - OEM at Newegg.com

I'm almost positive it's that once, super reliable and fast, at a great price. Newegg rules, I accidentally ordered a SATA HD, they took it back no questions asked, and in turn I got that one for like $15 for than it is now.

I would like a larger one, but someone once told me about a bad expirience with a 500 gig, lost everything. Like the G partition can't be but so large or it will freeze?

It's either gonna be a 400 gig or I'm gonna find a likeable way to change Hard drives quickly, not another top with a switch, but more like an external HD.

I've even dreamed about creating a dual MB X BoX for my 52 in. HD Split screen.

Here's a tut I've looked at for a while, that I thought was quite empressive!!!!

Basicly, the larger the hard drive, the more chance of errors with the xbox. I personally wouldn't go larger than 400GB myself. Also if you want to add an external, you can prolly do a mod that would tap into your internal IDE ribbon and build a switch on the back of the xbox by the Etho jack that will switch the power between the HDD's. Then you can get an external encloseure and then attach it to the xbox using a modded conector on the back of the xbox. [for the power and data]

Then to use HDD 1 just switch it so that the power is one that drive and boot up the xbox. To use HDD 2 just shutdown the xbox, flip the switch and then boot up to the second HDD.

OR

by a chip with this capability and spend money on a project that someone else did.....stealing what glory you could have for yourself. lol

PS:\ if this is done, make sure that both the 5v and 12v powers are being switched,no point in having a hard drive that's not being used spinning up on boot.
