Personally I find SID and AID are the best efforts i've seen so far to utilize all possiblities from one disc. As long as you have one or both of these, a modded USB cable to Port, and a some Valid - "flash memory!!!" you're set. The best chips make the process usually much less complicated and time consuming but also allow many more "bells and whistles" that just will not fly in a softmod. I don't have a computer at home but I can network 2 Boxes, and within a few hours you've can have it all too! Remember if you choose the wrong bios' for a new larger HD (preferably Dual Boot) you will have problems accessing all available space. UnleashX is the best Partition formatter I know of and if you still have problems with getting all your storage, go back to Slayers or copy over the "program" that allows you to create partitions and change the sizes of each partition as you like. Be careful not to delete your C Drive! 1. What do you plan to use this Xbox for.

If the drive can still boot to something i would suggest either redoing the mod completely and start fresh. You can't unlock a soft drive and still have it boot, only with a chip is this possible. If you're intent is to move up to a larger HD then you don't need to do any unlocking. As long as you have the new HD and the xboxhdm with the original EEPROM and of course a few other very important files!!! xboxhdm can be frustrating but it works, it's the hard commands that give me trouble so just pay attention to "every step" and remember to remember! peace!

The problem is, he hooked up the HD upgrade to go into the softmodded box to his chipped box and he can't format it, unlock it, or anything without getting errors. Slayer's just freezes after trying to boot, and none of the commands through XeniumOS are working either. On top of that, XBHDM is giving him errors when trying to format. So he can't access a dash, reinstall softmod, get Slayer's to run, or format the HD upgrade, it's stuck in a locked state and he gets errors at every turn. I'm sure there's a way to fix it, but I have no idea how. His Xbox is chipped with a Xenium Gold, his friends Xbox was softmodded with SID before the whole thing began. He has run into issues trying to upgrade the stock Xbox HD which was softmodded for a 160GB HD. I dunno if a hotswap might work, it was like the only I could come up with my limited knowledge of softmods.

A very Big UH-OH!. I have to go on lunch and get some goodies, but i'll be back but very quickly i would say that sounds messy. I can help as much as i will. First, sounds to me like he actually lost the original EEPROM from the original soft HD, and that is not good. I think he switched EEPROM's basically and that does suck. So go with that tid-bit for now. I'll be back!
Add- I'd say take the 160G and keep trying with XBOXHDM. Make sure your setup is correct when using xboxhdm, Cables, Drives, Pins. Attention to detail will save you frustration! peace
