Using an external HD w/ modded xbox

Whats Up XS?!?!

Man, its been a long time.
Anyways,

I have an 500gb external harddrive sitting here w/ no use @ all And i have a modded xbox w/ xcecuter 3 CE chip installed and the front interface w/ the Screen and 2 usb ports as sen below.

Is there a way to get the external harddrive to work w/ my modded xbox. I just want to be able to put music, movies, and pictures on the external hardrive and then be able to exlore and play them w/ the modded xbox. is this possible?

I think its because the xbox uses its own format, and the external HDD is formatted as FAT or FAT32 which it should be for the computer to read it. If you are able to format it to the xbox format, no other device can read it later on.

yea, i read that xbox read "xfat" There is an option on the unleash x that says "format disk". I did it and it said "drive formatted successfully" but when i pull it up on the file explorer it still says that it isn't formated

XBMC and Unleash X have FAT32 support. From what I read on Xbox-scene, the data transfer rate is pretty slow, unless you have it running from USB 2.0. I'm not exactly sure what determines that, I'd imagine the type of USB mod you have installed on your Xbox. So I'd say transfer some files to it, plug it in, and boot XBMC. It will probably show up in the sources menu under video, audio, or pictures.

Okay, I guess I need to update XMBC. Xbox still doesn't recognize the hd. It's okay, i just didn't feel like dragging the xbox from the living room everytime I wanted to put something on there.

Yeah, Xbox-scene was honestly not much help, there was jumbled information. From what I could tell, USB 1.1 mods are way too slow to stream video and audio from an external HD. UX and XBMC are supposed to have support for external USB HD's, I was not clear if any formatting was required or not. I'd suggest checking around, looking for a definitive answer or guide.
