Is your Xbox modified? You must have a modified Xbox to be able to FTP files between your Xbox and your PC. You can't FTP to a non-modified Xbox. If you are connecting your Xbox to a modem or router, then you need to use an ethernet cable, not a crossover cable. You use a crossover cable to connect your Xbox directly to your Computer. When using a direct connection between your PC and Xbox, you also need to setup a static IP on your Xbox and PC.

yes its mod'd.it connects to my modem.i am using my xover cable to use xlink but i also have try'd using it for my ftp as i have done with my standerd earthnet but both dont work for ftp.for some reason my lan connection using my earthnet says disconnected when its connected to my xbox but if i connect it to my pc it connects.

sorry bout this im a complete noob lol

i have the xecutor 2 modchip. it has lil switches stikin out. do they haveto be switched to certain places like bank1 or bank2 or protected or unprotected stuff like that ?

my modem is atlantic webstar 2000 series cable modem. its running off the usb connection atm and the earthnet is connected to it and i use it for xlink even tho it says its not connected

Well if your modem works for X-link and your computer, then I don't think it's a hardware issue. First off, if you have your Xbox running into the modem, then you need to have it connected with an ethernet cable, not a crossover cable. Second, why is your modem running off a USB connection? Why not just run your cable connection directly into the corresponding ethernet port on your modem? It's definitely better to use the ethernet connection over USB. Don't worry about switching it over yet though.

Make sure your Xbox is connected to the modem with an ethernet cable. Then make sure the network settings are correct in your Xbox dash. In your hacked dash, go to network settings and make sure that your IP is set to automatic or DHCP. Save the updated network settings for your dash and power down your Xbox. Then go into network settings in Windows on your PC and make sure DHCP is enabled. Here's a guide, scroll down to the section for Windows XP. Configure DHCP for Windows | Technical Support | MOREnet

See if you can get FTP to work after that. Make sure your FTP client is allowed if you are using a software firewall. Here's a guide for FTPing the Xbox:

How to FTP...Made Easy!!

That may help you rather than LS trying to write the whole guide out again post by post.

I would also check with the maker of the modem and ISP. Sometimes a modem when pluggen in through USB will not work well if at all for this type of thing. So if you have a way to hook it up to the PC using an ethernet cable you may want to do that. Only drawback is that when you want to hook up the Xbox you will have to unhook the bacble that goes to the PC each time.

I believe Steimy is correct for sure about ethernet over USB. I don't know a ton about using USB for cable/dsl modem hookups, but logically that would seem to be slower and less reliable than using an ethernet port for your broadband connection.

@Warped Mind Did you try any of the suggestions I mentioned? The first thing you need to do is decide on a connection type. If you are going to run your Xbox through your modem, then you must use use an ethernet cable. Then you need to set your settings to DHCP. You appear to have DHCP enabled in Avalaunch, but not in EvoX. Enable it any dashes you have installed. Change the settings, save them, and reboot your Xbox. Then make sure DHCP is enabled in Windows using the guide I posted above. Without doing that, I can not begin to eliminate any causes of the problem.

Are you able to FTP successfully when you connect your Xbox directly to your PC with a crossover cable? If so, then I believe the most likely cause of your problems is using USB to connect your modem rather than an Ethernet Port.
