Is it possible to soft mod my xbox without the memory card thing for the game saves... also without the games that you need.
Cause I don't have a memory card or any of the required games. And another question, Where would I get my xbox chipped and how much would it cost to get it chipped? I live in South East Queensland, Australia. If that helps. Thanks people.

To answer the first question, no you need ARMAX, one of the required games, and the softmod game save. As far as where to get your Xbox chipped in Australia, I'm not sure on that one. I came across this page which has a number of installers in OZ and their contact information:

I contacted the one from the Sunshine Coast and he said $90AUD for a DUO-X2 GS modchip installed with Evolution-X dashboard and software.
Anyone think that is a fair price? I had a browse on one of the links you gave me(thanks for them) and I came across the Duo-x2 costs $20AUD for it... but you had to install.

Comes out to $83 USD. Well, it seems a bit high, but not unreasonable. Considering how versatile a modded Xbox is, it is definitely worthwhile imo. There are emulators that for almost every system up to the PSX, and Xbox Media Center is amazing, plays video, audio, and image files in virtually every format.

I just got the last email...  The rest just says it all.  hey mate , yes its has the option of being turned off , simply press the eject button and the chip will be disabled , press the power button and the chip is enabled , the chips come with a lifetime warranty , have NEVER had a chip die , and i have been installing the DUO-X2 for 6 years and never had a retun , it is an amazing chip , cheers , regards Rick ----- Original Message -----

Sounds good man. If you are comfortable with the guy, I see no reason not to do it. A modded Xbox is still the coolest thing going.

Wow, i am glad i live in the US. The DuoX2 chip i got was like $10. I guess if you include shipping both ways and the install it may come close to $90 so i hope all that is included as well. The dashboards and software are free anyway. All you would need is either AID (Autoinstaller Deluxe or Slayer). Then again mine was done by a friend so i probably got an awesome deal fom mine.
